Where it all Started

My name is Karen Morris and I live in Bridgwater, Somerset.  I started my career in IT back in 1994, some 15 years ago.  Originally after leaving school I wanted to become a Secretary so I did a two year Secretarial Studies Course, and gained several Admin qualifications including RSA Typing up to Stage 3 and Word Processing, plus NVQ Diplomas in Office Procedures and Secretarial Studies.  After my first Admin job as a Data Input Clerk, I realised that this wasn't what I really wanted to do.  Having bought an old work's PC an 8086 whilst in this position, I realised Computers could a lot more than just word processing and typing.  After taking the lid off the computer, and seeing how it worked then rebuilding, configuring I knew this is what I wanted to do.  I then took a year out went back to College and did a 1 year Access course in Computing and from there onwards it was an IT Career all the way and the rest was history.

Experience

Over the past 15 years, I have been working in IT Support Roles both as an IT Contractor and permanent position including 1st, 2nd and 3rd line involving Technical Support/Training for a range of companies from Retail, MOD, NHS, Computer Support Company, Government to a Software Company.

My first real computer was the classic rubber key 48k Spectrum before moving along to the Amstrad 8256.  I can remember my first IBM PC as mentioned above, a second hand machine 8086, The classic black screen, no colour, just a command prompt and running Word Perfect 5.1, and windows 2.1.  After that I bought a 386 SX25, 486 SX25, Pentium 100, P2, P3, Dual Core 3.4 Pentium D and now a Quad Intel Processor with Vista and 8 GB or RAM running over a home LAN and Wireless network.  I also run a Mini Mac OS Tiger 10.4 as I like to use a MAC as well as a PC.

To work for myself is something that I have wanted to do for several years, but instead of being just another IT consultant in an already big market I am able to provide more than just PC Support but in addition Typing Services, and Training.  IT Support and Computers are not just my career though, as its my main hobby.

My Mission Statement as everyone should have a mission statement is simple:-
'To provide friendly, helpful IT Support and Typing Services to home users and small companies'
